My name is Katharina. I am the founder and owner of Floral Fromage. Born and raised in Hamburg, Germany, I have loved cheese ever since I can remember. During my Master's at the University of Hamburg (I studied Middle Eastern Studies, Sociology, and Protestant Theology), I started selling cheese at a local Farmers Market stand (shoutout to Wilhelm Weber Käsespezialitäten & Der Käseberg in Hamburg, Altona). It was then when I went from loving cheese to being absolutely obsessed. But it would take another ten years, moving to the US and working in Disaster Management through a pandemic for me to decide to earn my livelihood with cheese. But I knew very little about the American Cheese world, so where would I start? Luckily, I quickly found a job at a beautiful cheese store, BKLYN Larder in Downtown Brooklyn, and a great mentor in Mandy Wynn, who taught me so much but also let me explore on my own. And thanks to all of this and all my wonderful teachers and all the wonderful people I got to meet in the tiny space that is American cheese, I can now start my own business. Why Floral Fromage? Clearly, I LOVE CHEESE, but also, I love the versatility, beauty and sustainability of dried flowers. Only few things give me more joy than decorating my home with flowers and stacking my fridge with delicious cheese. So why not put them together in a beautiful gift basket!? Exactly. It just makes sense.

All of Floral Fromage's cheese is sourced from trusted partners who have been importing amazing cheeses for decades and/or directly from small dairy farms all over the country. ​
